IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING POTENTIAL UPS STRIKE
This notice affects all shipments/customers regardless if their order ships via UPS.
Talks between shipping giant United Parcel Service (UPS) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters regarding several issues are ongoing.
If UPS and the Teamsters Union do not reach an agreement by the deadline, more than 340,000 UPS workers will go on strike starting August 1, 2023. This notice is to inform our valued customers of the potential issues this will pose to future and current orders.
1) Although Great Traditions will have backup shipping carriers ready in the event of a strike, any packages currently in transit at the August 1 deadline will likely be delayed or halted in transit until the work stoppage can be resolved. Unfortunately, we have no control over carrier delays. We cannot recall the package while in transit or compel UPS to deliver any packages being held.
A) We recommend all customers choose an alternative shipping option in the checkout leading up to the impending deadline to avoid these delays. We may override a customer's choice to avoid any potential issues leading up to the deadline.
B) For international customers, this applies to all orders. UPS's fastest options typically take 3-4 business days. They often take 5-10+ business days.
c) For domestic customers, this window will depend on your distance from our shipping facility. Domestic shipments typically take between 1-6 business days.
D) If a free shipping option is chosen, the carrier, as always, is selected by Great Traditions. We will do our best to choose the best carrier that suits the situation.
2) Using alternative carriers may cause an increased burden on those other carriers' capacity and delivery times. We anticipate this will cause delays with the USPS, FedEx, DHL, and others as they adapt to the increased workload. Please expect delays beyond their regular transit times, regardless of whether you order something from Great Tradition or another retailer.
